Resting place on Bioštica river near Olovo

Bioštica is a beautiful river 30 kilometers long that surfaces on the earth near Knežina village in Sokolac municipality. It is the main tributary that with river Stupčanica create more bigger river Krivaja that has one of the most beautiful canyons in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These two rivers met in Olovo city creating the third one so we could say that Olovo lays on three rivers.

Olovo - mountain spa city

Olovo city is located on the main road that connects Sarajevo and Tuzla. It's main characteristics is mines of lead metal (that's the reason for it's naming because "olovo" means "lead"), mountain climate and thick evergreen forests that surrounds Olovo. Olovo is also famous for thermal springs and healthy water.

Zeleni vir resting place

Bioštica river is also the location for recently increased rafting tours, but in this article we would like to show you some pictures from the "Zeleni vir" (Green vortex) resting place that is located near Olovo. It is one of the main weekend destinations for Olovo citizens during the weekends, but it could also became a nice spot for a rest for those who travel from Sarajevo to Tuzla and beyond.

How to get there

It is not so hard to find. When you came to Olovo from Sarajevo direction just after the first bridge before entering Olovo you should turn right on the good asphalt road. After 1,5 kilometers you will come to the end of the road and see Zeleni vir resting place on the banks of Bioštica river. The river is slowed by the dam that creates a nice swimming pool. Place is suitable for children with some playground elements, but the most distinctive thing is the resting sound of the river that takes away the stress of the long travel.
