Rakitnica river canyon is a one of the most beautiful places in the world and have been listed in the recently published book „The Most Beautiful Canyons in the World“, causing a remarkable increase in interest among wilderness admirers.Rakitnica river starts it's journey near Bjelasnica mountain some 35 kilometer from Sarajevo at 1500 meter altitude and enters ater 30 kilometers in Nertva river between Bjelasnica, Visocica and Prenj mountains at altitude of 300 meters.
This is a typical mountain river with narrow and deep canyon with a lot of waterfalls, pools and rapids. The most exciting part of the river is located after the bridge between Lukomir-Bobovica where we have a 300 meter fall of the river on the distance of 4-5 kilometers.
That place has a lot of waterfalls and is very beautiful. Because of narrowness of the canyon after the rains or when the snow melts down water level can goes up for 20 meter on some places. At the video material filmed by the members of extreme sports club "Scorpio" we can see beauty of that canyon.
