Whole southern region of the Bjelasnica mountain is one beautiful showcase of nature that sometimes interlace with legend. One of those legends is connected with Umoljani village and Studeni potok, small water stream literally translated as "Cold creek".

There is so much words that has already been said about Lukomir like "highest inhabited village in Bosnia and Herzegovina", "a village at the end of the world" or "place behind which lives dragons and fairies".

Bjelasnica mountain is very close to Sarajevo and with it's great cycling potential it is great place for weekend bicycle rides. This tour happened sometimes in May. Snow traces was visible on the mountains peaks, but weather was relatively warm and pleasant for ride.

In Hiking

This one day hiking tour happened in April 2011 with main goal to enjoy the untouched nature of the mountain region between Umoljani and Lukomir villages. Both villages are located on Bjelasnica mountain, but, in some point, this tour also passed by Visocica mountain and Rakitnica river.

That was a very hot summer day in Sarajevo and thermometer was showing that the temperature was around 36 degrees Celsius. Considering the fact that temperature decrees with higher altitude only logical destination for cycling was in the mountains. Choice for that day was Sinanovici - remote village located between Bjelasnica and Visocica mountains.

Treskavica mountain is one of the most interesting mountains in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It's wild nature is relatively unknown to younger generations because of present mine danger in some parts of Treskavica, but certain parts are safe for visiting and hiking.

Rakitnica river canyon is a one of the most beautiful places in the world and have been listed in the recently published book „The Most Beautiful Canyons in the World“, causing a remarkable increase in interest among wilderness admirers.

Rakitnica is the name of the small village located between Bjelasnica and Visocica mountains and it is possible to come there via 13 kilometer long good asphalt road passing by sky center Babin dol on Bjelasnica.
