Bosnian burek is a pastry filled with meat rolled into a spiral and baked in oven. This meal is ordinary called "pita", but this word collects more different kinds of filling in one big family. There is also a cottage cheese filling (pita sirnica), spinach with cheese fillind (pita zeljanica) and potatoes filling (pita krompirusa).
In the nearby countries word burek is used for all these kinds of "pita", but Bosnian "burek" is made just of meat.
There is, like always, different recipe for every cook and everybody has something special in his mixture, but generally, we could say that burek consists from two parts: pastry part and filling part.
Recipe for Bosnian burek
0,5 kg of flour
300 ml of water (poured all at once)
2 spoon of salt and
1 tablespoons of oil
Filling recipe is:
0,5 kg meat
3 teaspoons of herb spices
2 spoon pepper
